A barmaid stands behind a bar. On the bar is champagne and a giant snake, and a punch bowl with an iguana. Hanging behind her are plants, a sloth, monkeys, a toucan. There is an armadillo on a checkerboard table behind her.

“Rainforest Barmaid”

This illustration was inspired by my trips to the rainforests of South America. I saw and drew every animal you see in this image it was also inspired by the painting “Barmaid at the Follies Bergere” by Edouard Manet.

It began as a small black and white etching (9” x 12”).

I enlarged the original, printed it on etching paper and hand-colored in the entire image in color pencils.

Color pencil on D’Arches etching paper.

16″ x 20″

Prints: $250

This is the original painting by Edouard Manet.
